Lady Hallea of the White Moon

Description

Introducing Lady Hallea, the step-daughter of Queen Selene, and half-sister of Princess Selenity.

Hallea's mother left her father, Teo, when Hallea was only weeks old and simply vanished. In the next two years, Teo left Ganymede to get involved in Jovian politics, where he met the Lunar Queen, Selene. He ended up courting her and marrying her, becoming King Consort, First Lord Teo of the White Moon (a title depending on him fathering Selene's heir, since the Moon were still INCREDIBLY suspicious of foreigners).

Hallea adored her step-mother, and was in awe of Selene as well. She adored Selenity, as well, and never forgave herself for convincing a young Selenity to use the Crystal, which bleached all the colour out of her.

When Hallea is a teenager (probably around 17; Selenity would be around 13-ish), she begins having Significant Dreams. Around the same time, Selene hears that one of the Rebel groups are harnessing comets for terrorism, but comets are too unwieldy and powerful to be controlled like that and Selene makes the conscious decision to confront and disassemble the Rebels responsible. So Teo, Selene and a group of soldiers leave the Moon to do so, leaving Hallea, Selenity and Selene's advisor Titania alone on the Moon.

Unfortunately, the Terrans have bought the technology off the Rebels and chose to launch one ancient comet at the Moon. Except the comet was a fragment of a dormant planet that was destroyed back during the time of the First Senshi; the comet is all that is left, and almost dead.

Hallea's AWOL mother? VERY distantly related to the royal family of the destroyed planet, and carried a dormant sailor crystal. Combine that with the fact that Selenity and her generation had no senshi (blamed on the Crystal) and Hallea was so protective of her half-sister that she managed to awaken the ghost of the sailor crystal she might have carried if things had worked out differently.

So Hallea powered up and managed to gain control of the comet, and prevent it from destroying the Moon, but it was imbibed with the negative energy of Chaos, and that combined with the fact her sailor crystal was maybe a splinter, it killed her.

Selene was mortified but there was no body to attempt to heal. She simply burnt through all her power and life force. Teo never really recovered from Hallea's death.

The long-term ramifications were that everyone was worried about people descended from lost world's royalty carrying fragments of dormant sailor crystals; Hallea's diadem, beloved doll and photo were interned in the Hall of Light with a marble statue of her. The Hall of Light is where all Royalty would be 'buried'. Selenity, as a young woman, would build a fountain topped with a statue of Hallea as her private memorial. Selenity, also, never forgave Earth for their attack and refused to have anything to do with them.

And, of course, the comet - of which all historical information was lost - was renamed Hallea's Comet, which we know today as Halley's Comet ;)

I always found it curious that Selenity had a silver moon in the anime rather than gold, which made me consider the Silver Crystal. It can't be a coincidence ^_^ Plus, I really loved the idea of an older sibling who had no claim on the throne. I also love the idea that Selenity wasn't a senshi nor had any senshi of her own, and decided that Selenity needed some kind of guardian.

I love-love-love Hallea's fuku (i know I botched her feet, but this was drawn a long time ago), It's so princessy and old fashioned and girly. I'm trying to define distinctive fuku styles pre, during and post Sil-Mil, and I think this is definitely the during-SilMil style.

I've been awol for ages, and this is the only one I've managed to finish off in PS (in class, actually ^_^) since I've been so busy moving out and going back to university. Things are slowly falling into place, but every time I say I'll be back, something happens and I'm not. So, hopefully soon.

I desperately need to redo my Moon family tree!
